JEFFERSON Tour lets visitors see historic homes by candlelight Take a stroll through Jefferson during the 33rd annual Candlelight Tour of Homes during the first two weekends in December. Guests can tour private residences decked out in holiday decorations and learn about the properties from guides dressed in historic attire. Also included are free performances of Christmas music at the historic First Baptist Church, 523 N. Polk St. Local accommodations include several bed-and-breakfast and hotel options, many within walking distance of the home tour. Tickets are $20. The tour is Dec. 3-5 and Dec. 10-12. The First Baptist Church is host to the 2015 Candlelight Music Concerts. This historic church founded in 1855, is perfect for the music variety of this years’ schedule from community and church choirs, to gospel choirs, hand bell, and musicians of all sizes. Since 1981, the Historic Jefferson Foundation has sponsored the Candlelight Tour of Homes®. This annual event has become a Christmas tradition for thousands who make their way to Jefferson to tour homes bedecked in greenery and natural lighting and to be greeted by docents in period costumes.
