Now in its 35th year, the Historic Jefferson Foundation has taken the first two weekends of December to present a tour of private residences, presenting the best of Jefferson. The city is astir with all things Candlelight. The famous tour of homes displays residences generously decorated to reflect the grandeur of the elaborate Victorian theme or to match the period of the house itself.
Adding to your holiday experience during your visit, there are many special attractions. This year, the historic Cumberland Presbyterian Church will be open for performances of Christmas music free to the public during Candlelight Tour of Homes® hours. The City of Jefferson and the Lions Club partner with the Historic Jefferson Foundation in presenting the Enchanted Forest featuring more than 100 trees decorated for Christmas.
Churches, public and other private homes, and businesses adorn the historic city of Jefferson with beautiful holiday decor. Several museums are available for delving into history and archeology of the area. Train enthusiasts will delight in exhibits like the J.R. Moses model train extravaganza, a tour of the Jay Gould private railroad car, and rides on the Historic Jefferson railway.
One of four theater production groups is likely to have a play for Christmas season enjoyment. There are many excellent dining establishments serving the most causal meals or truly fine dining available for your pleasure. Stay in one of our renowned, high–quality Bed and Breakfast establishments or one of our historic hotels, many in walking distance of the houses on Candlelight Tour of Homes®.
